Community Engagement
EcoSociety's Community Engagement Program supports our mission of bringing together local residents to protect the natural environment while building just, equitable, healthy, and liveable communities in the West Kootenay region. We organize with our grassroots and community leaders to develop local social, political, and economic solutions to environmental and equity problemsThe program hosts special events in communities around the region to increase awareness of critical local issues. The Community Engagement Program also helps people and partners identify opportunities, build capacity, and solve problems.

EcoCentric Radio
West Kootenay EcoSociety hosts a weekly radio program on CJLY Kootenay Coop Radio, covering environmental issues from the local to the global, all from a Kootenay perspective. Tune in at noon on Tuesday or 9am Sunday.

Connecting people with nature and helping community members understand our regional ecosystems and the opportunities for sustainable communities are our key education components.

Through events, films, speakers, and programs, we reach thousands of people every year. Whether the topic is renewable energy, wolverine habitat, or sustainable forestry, our outreach helps people understand what they can do to make an impact in their communities. Please visit our calendar and Facebook page to see upcoming events.
